Therapy plan for
An exercise plan for biko® has been developed and it is important to stick to it. The plan represents a general guideline, which can be adapted to the patient, depending on severity and progress. Patients usually take 6 weeks to get the best out of the biko.
Avoid pushing the patient too fast as it takes time to learn how to work with the biko and for muscles to rehabilitate.
Walking should still be a pleasure.
Phase 1: 14 days, use only at the times of walking (max. 10 min.). Each biko assembly has some adjustment. The shorter the brace the greater the pull on the hind feet. Start with the middle setting.
Phase 2: 14 days daily increase of the period of exercise with the biko in situ walking and trotting. times in step and trot
Phase 3: 14 days daily increase of the utilization time until fulltime use.
Phase 4: Plateau phase: fulltime application
Phase 5: Depending on the outcome you may wish to continue with the biko fulltime or if the patient responds very well it may be possible to exercise without the biko for limited periods.
